Here is an interesting one: Imagine a place to catch some sleep but in a stylish cool box plus it saves area space. Sounds cool right, well here it is, it is called mini hotels which has been slowly becoming the latest trend. Capsule inn exemplifies the bare-essentials hotel rooms for brief use, and similar concepts are popping up at airports, train stations and downtowns around the world, replacing and mimicking the “day rooms” already existing at many airports. This trend has spread to a number of airports including Yotel pods in Gatwick and Heathrow airports in London and Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.


Unlike their Japanese counterpart which only contains a bed and a tv, the western version are more spacious that comes with a bed, a table, a HD Tv , a wifi a place to stash your luggage and plenty of sockets to charge up your laptop or your mobile phone. Design such as these can provide an excelant comfort for people who wants to take a quick nap in fact better than sleeping on the chair. Sleep Box is designed by a Russian company called Arch Group with the mindset that the design can be installed at train stations and airports, and central public places or cities where accommodation is fully booked. the cubic size is mesuared to be by 2 m x 1,40m x 2,30m to provide execellant comfort. Payment is made at terminals where clients are given an electronic key to accessed the box that can be purchased to sleep for 15 minutes or for as many hours as the person needed.

The fourth Yotel is set to arrive in New York in 2011 with a location opening on 42nd and 10th street boasting 669 luxury rooms and the largest outside terrace in any hotel in New York . Also in Amsterdam, Citizen M has a hotel with 230 mini rooms at Schiphol Airport and a 215-room hotel in Amsterdam City. Citizen M plans to open similar hotels across Europe.




Rumour has it too that Dubai will install 50 to 70 of these sleep boxes in their Dubai Airport. It is hoped that this trnd can spread around the world and travel will be less of a headache especaily people who suffered with delay flights or waiting for long hours for the next one and don’t forget back pack travellers.
